Snap Inc. Announces Simplified Snapchat App for 2025 and User Growth in Q3 2024

Snap Inc. is preparing to release a simplified version of its Snapchat app in early 2025, as revealed by the Chief Executive Officer in the latest quarterly earnings discussion. The company reported a significant boost in global users, with 37 million new additions in Q3 2024, raising its total to 443 million. Snapchat Spectacles, the latest in its line of augmented reality glasses, will also expand to more international markets.

In Q3 2024, Snap recorded a 15 percent increase in revenue year-over-year, totaling $1.3 billion, despite reporting a net loss of $153 million. Engagement also saw an uplift, with users spending 5 percent more time on the platform and sharing one billion Snaps monthly.

Building on recent growth, CEO Evan Spiegel revealed plans for the new “Simple” Snapchat app, which is set to launch in early 2025. Currently being tested by over 10 million users across 12 markets, the app will further expand to regions with strong monetization potential in the next quarter. Designed to attract new and less active users, this simplified version aims to streamline core features, such as viewing stories and browsing Spotlight, for a more intuitive experience.

Additionally, Snap confirmed that its Spectacles—first unveiled at the Snap Partner Summit, held in September 2024—will soon be available in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain, widening its international reach beyond the U.S.
